SKOWHEGAN PLAZA

This plaza is the smallest in Skowhegan.  Its located downtown on the south shore of the Kennebec River.  I found out that it was built in 1960.  In the early 70's, Sampson Food store was the anchor store at the plaza.  During the 80’s, the plaza was anchored by a pharmacy, and it was quite probably LaVerdiere’s.  The store became Rite Aid later and closed when the pharmacy relocated further north near Walmart.  Rent-A-Vision was located at the plaza.  The store closed and re-opened as Rentway which since has became Rent-A-Center.  Family Dollar opened a store at the plaza and joined the existing Garden Wok Restaurant.
