HATCH PLAZA

This small town shopping center was thriving because it was the only one in the area between Tilton and north of Plymouth.  Giant Department store opened in the early 70's and Ames replaced it in October 1973. Shop'n save used to be Food Town. They expanded and renovated the supermarket around 1991-1992.  The store is now 50,776 sq.-ft.  Ames was renovated in October 1985 and interior was remodeled in late 1998.  Dollar Depot replaced the All-For-A-Dollar store that closed in 1997. That space had been a Brooks Pharmacy too, it closed in the early 90’s.

Ames closed in October 2002 leaving the town with no discount store for a few weeks because brand new Walmart Supercenter was almost ready when Ames closed. Dollar Depot closed in 2002 and was replaced by Olympia Sports. Rand's hardware closed in January 2004. Marshalls opened a store in 28,000 sq.-ft. of the 40,000 sq.ft. vacant Ames store in October 2005. Family Dollar moved in the plaza in the summer of 2011. The store later closed.
