Ollie's is America's largest chain of closeout and excess inventory stores. Similar to Maine's Marden's chain, it sells overstock, closeouts, bankruptcy inventory and all sorts of general merchandises at deep discounts. Up until recently, it had little to no presence in New England and the North East in general. It opened a store in Plattsburgh in the former Gander Outdoors at Champlain Centre North around 2018. Some stores then started to appear in Vermont and Massachusetts. In 2025, it acquired 40 former Big Lots locations. Two stores in New Hampshire and one in Vermont.
Ollie's opened its first Maine store in May 2025 at the Center for Shopping plaza in Sanford. That location is a former Marshalls which had closed years ago. Ollie's often scoops up former store chain locations and buildings. A former Big Lots in Belmont NH will become Ollie's in July 2025. Another former Big Lots in Nashua will also open soon.
