GLOBE PLAZA (AKA Simoneau Plaza)

The first shopping center in Nashua was the Simoneau Plaza, later renamed Globe Plaza. It opened in early 1963 with a W.T.Grant. The store closed in March 1976. In 1978, the vacant space became JCPenney. Stop & Shop closed in the 70's and was replaced by Star Market which closed in 1998. JCPenney relocated to the Pheasant Lane Mall in 1986. Bradlees later was the anchor store at the plaza. It was the company's second store in Nashua. The store closed in 2001 after the chain's bankruptcy.

Between July 2001 and February 2002, the shopping center was under redevelopment. There was demolition, renovation and reconstruction of buildings. A.J.Wright opened in a modernized part of the plaza in 2002 with a relocated Video Thunder, Dunkin' Donuts and other stores.

Shaw's opened in April 2003, a 64,500 sq.-ft. upgraded store. Part of the 84,000 sq.-ft. Bradlees is becoming WOW! Workout club and 50,000 sq.-ft. of the old Bradlees was still available. Burger King Drive-Iin got demolished and relocated within the plaza parking lot to a modernized and seated restaurant in early 2004. In 2014 Ocean State Job Lot opened in the former Bradlees.

Something tells me the original name of the plaza was still behind the word "GLOBE" on this sign.  It looks like the word GLOBE was added over the old neon sign. The style of the sign is very 60's with the star and neons.  The GLOBE section looks like a more recent pannel added later.

UPDATE: I was able to find the original sign below:
