NORTHPORT PLAZA

Northport Plaza started as a shopping center anchored by a large Grant City store that featured an auto center. It was also home to LaVerdiere's Pharmacy and Finast supermarket. Grant City closed in 1976. The space was subdivided into a new Ames store and a TV and Radio station. Ames closed in 1979 and the plaza eventually was re-developped into a business park.  Laverdiere's moved out to a free-standing building and lated became Rite Aid.
