SHOPS AT CLARK'S POND
Address: Clark's Pond Parkway
City: South Portland, ME
Opening date: Unknown
This 275,000 SF. shopping center opened in the 90's with Home Quarters Warehouse (HQ), MVP sports, Marshalls, Payless shoes and a few others. Back then, it was the first new shopping center in years for that area. Nothing really changed until HQ moved across the street to a larger store. Home Goods opened 1/3 of the former HQ store. The bankruptcy of HQ created an opportunity for Home Depot to enter the Portland market.
Home Depot opened in the former HQ (across the street). Red Lobster was located nearby but not directly on the property. It closed and was replaced by a new TGI Friday's and Olive Garden. Tuesday Morning opened where Payless Shoes was located. The center acquired the two small strips of stores in front of the property along Gorham Road. MVP sports changed its name to Decathlon USA. The store closed shortly after that name change when Decathlon pulled out of the U.S. market. Bob’s Discount Furniture opened in the former Decathlon USA and Hoyt’s Cinemas has been renamed Regal Cinemas and then Cinemagic Grand.
In 2016, Marshalls, HomeGoods and Bob's Discount Furniture all relocated to the Scarborough Gallery. In February 2021, Cinemagic announced the permanent closure of all of its cinemas including the South Portland location.
The former HQ store located at the plaza.
