SOUTHGATE PLAZA

Southgate plaza was built in 1970, with Stuart's Department store and Demoulas supermarket. The plaza is located on Daniel Webster Highway, a little up the road from the Pheasant Lane Mall.

Walgreens and Papa Gino's were in between Stuart's and Market Basket. In the parking lot is another building that's part of the plaza (With Anton's cleaners, a laundromat and a NH liquor store). Stuart's closed in April 1995, among with other stores. Market Basket relocated into the old Stuart's and completely rehabilitated the building and renovated it from summer 1996 to late February 1997.

The plaza, including the Papa Gino's and Walgreens section, was remodeled in early 1997 and a new pylon sign was installed. The old Market Basket became Linens'n Things and I-Party in Fall 1997. Linens'n Things closed in 2008 following the bankruptcy of the chain. The store was still vacant as of fall 2009.  Bed Bath & Beyond eventually opened in the former LNT space. As pictured above, the roof outline shows that the Linens'n Things building was expanded. NH Liquor store moved out and was replaced by a Skechers Outlet store. In April 2023, Bed Bath & Beyond filed for bankruptcy and confirmd it would close all remaining stores, so this Nashua location will likely close sometime in 2023.
