STOP & SHOP PLAZA (Bradlees)
Address: South Willow Street
City: Manchester, NH
Opening date: Unknown
This plaza was first anchored by Woolco and Alexander's Supermarket. Bradlees replaced Woolco in the early 80's. Office Max opened in 1992 in the former Alexander's Supermarket. Bradlees closed shortly after the chain went declared bankruptcy in December 2000. In fall 2002, the Bradlees logo was still standing on the tall pylon sign of the plaza. They also started to demolish the old Bradlees entrance.
In 2003, a new Stop & Shop was almost ready to open. It became their first northern New England location when it opened. Office Max eventually closed and Petsmart and Five Below have opened at the plaza. All six New Hampshire Stop & Shop stores were closed in August 2013. Burlington Coat Factory made a comeback to Manchester when it opened in part of the former supermarket. Michaels opened in the rest of the building. Today the former Stop & Shop gas station remains standing at the front end of the parking lot.
