SOMERSET PLAZA

This shopping center was built in early 1989 with a new Kmart. The plaza has 18 stores. Market Basket opened in 1990, and added like around 1,000 square feet in mid-1998 by expanding to the front. The plaza had many stores including Walgreens, Blockbuster, GNC, Fashion Bug, Applebee's etc. Weathervane closed in 1998 and became Fashion bug's expanded space. Golf Day closed in 2000 and half of it is now Aspen Dental. K-mart was renovated into the Big Kmart format in April 1998.

This K-mart became one of the first Sears Essentials in Spring 2005. The store looked pretty much like a regular Kmart with new layout, colors, Craftsman tool department and a Kenmore appliance section. It still felt very Kmart with a slight Sears touch. The Garden Center was still in operation. Walgreens closed or moved out and has been replaced by Dressbarn. In 2012 Fashion Bug announced it would close all of its stores including the Nashua location.

Sears eventually closed and in 2013 Market Basket moved into their former space. With that new larger Market Basket, the grocery chain decided to close their Turnpike Plaza location down the road. In 2014 it was announced that the former Somerset Plaza grocery store could become home to an LA Fitness health club. A free-standing Chik-fil-A restaurant opened recently on the property. In the fall of 2016, Hobby Lobby eventually opened in the former Market Basket.
