Another retail center has been added in the busy Auburn Mall area. The arrival of Lowe's and a Walmart Supercenter kicked up Auburn's retail into high gear.  Kohl's opened at the former Walmart site and was later joined by Hobby Lobby.  The area also has a Home Depot and BJ's Wholesale Club.

The Mount Auburn Plaza is located across Turner Street from Lowe's and across Mount Auburn avenue and the Auburn Mall.  It featured Best Buy and three restaurants: LongHorn Steakhouse, Ruby Tuesday and until recently a T.G.I.Friday's. A 20,000 SF. parcel located on the right hand side of Best Buy remained undeveloped until 2020. The single store of the plaza always looked all alone at the back of the property with the large portion of the property still undeveloped.

T.G.I. Friday's eventually closed and has been replaced by IHOP. Best Buy closed late 2017 and sat vacant until the property and the vacant lot near it were purchased by a Subaru dealership. Ruby Tuesday closed its doors in 2020.
