This is the usual small town shopping plaza: a department store, a supermarket and a few small stores in between.  The 102,000 sq.ft. plaza once featured Ames and Shop'n save supermarket. The supermarket is Bud's Shop'n save, related to Hannaford.  Ames closed the Newport store in 2001 along with 53 other stores nationwide.

In March 2003, a local businessman acquired the entire plaza and opened a 24-lane bowling center in the former Ames. Quizno's recently opened at the plaza.  There is a large Walmart Supercenter located nearby in Palmyra.
