ELLSWORTH SHOPPING CENTER
Address: 185 High Street
City: Ellsworth, ME
Opening date: 1964
This shopping center is anchored by Maine-based Reny's and Shaw's supermarket. The plaza was built in 1964 and a 40,000 square foot Zayre used to be the main anchor store. Zayre became Ames in 1989 and closed in February 1990 because Ames already had a store in Ellsworth, down the road at the Maine Coast Mall. Ames became IGA in 1993. IGA closed in Spring 1995 and later re-opened as a 55,000 square foot Shaw's.
