Ames Plaza (Barre)

The Shopping Plaza was built in 1974. Back then, a 64,000 sq.ft Zayre was the anchor store. Zayre became Ames in the early 90's. The plaza has a 46,000 square foot Price Chopper as well as Kinney Drugs and a recently built Blockbuster video. Ames closed in October 2002 after the bankruptcy of the company. Price Shopper went through a renovation a few years ago. Kinney moved to a new free-standing store east of the plaza with Bond Auto and Blockbuster. The former pharmacy became Dollar Tree. Bond Auto became O'Reilley Auto Parts. Tjmaxx eventually opened in part of the former Ames.
