The Christmas Tree shops plaza in Scarborough was built in Summer 2000. The Christmas Tree Shops store is 50,000 square feet and Michaels is 20,000 square feet. The plaza is located on the borderline of South Portland on Payne road (the extension of Maine Mall Road) and 1/3 mile away from the Maine Mall.  Circuit City and Pet Quarters are respectively located at right and left of the shopping plaza and are not officially part of it.  Circuit City closed in March 2009 after the bankruptcy of the company. The store has since been replaced by a Goodwill store. Christmas Tree Shops closed its doors in August 2023 after the company's bankruptcy. This location has high visibility from I-95 so it may find a new tenant easily. Floor & Decor eventually opened in the vacant Christmas Tree Shops.
