ROCHESTER MALL

Rochester mall was first anchored by Rich's department store and Purity Supreme supermarket. Rich's closed in early 1996. Purity Supreme followed in the same year. The shopping center was acquired in 2000 by Winstanley Entreprises. They wanted to redevelop it and add a new supermarket. A land aside the mall was also acquired. In the end, half of the mall was demolished to make way for a new Home Depot. The part including the former Purity Supreme and Citizen Bank were left intact. For years there were a lot of rumors about the coming of a second Hannaford in town it finally happened and the store opened to the right of Home Depot. McDonalds opened nearby on the site of a former Bonanza.
