ROCKINGHAM PLAZA

Rockingham Mall is no longer a mall, it’s a plaza. When the mall opened in 1971, it had Bradlees, Child World and other stores. Child World closed in 1992 and its former location is today home to Christmas Tree Shops. A 90,000 sq.ft Bradlees was the main anchor store for years.

Above you see Rockingham Mall in its plaza form with Bradlees on the right and Shaw's Supermarket on the far left. It looks like the space occupied by Bob's store and Tjmaxx could have been a single larger store before.

The largest mall in New Hampshire opened right across Rockingham boulevard creating more competition and causing the end of the enclosed mall era at Rockingham Mall. Office Max and Petco both opened in 1999. Bed & Bath closed in March 1999 and Office Max closed in April 2001. Bradlees went out of business and like many other locations, the store has been replaced by Kohl’s which opened in 2001.

Rockingham Mall is home to one of the few Bob’s Stores in northern New England. The store is now co-branded as Sports Direct/Bob's. Shaw's closed its doors in 2017.

Plans were released in 2018 to tear down the Denny's building and replace it with a Panera Bread and Verizon store. Bob's Discount Furniture eventually relocated to the former Shaw's space. The entire facade of the plaza was also renovated with all stores but Kohl's having the same design.
