HARBOR PLAZA

This shopping plaza seen many anchors come and go. The center was built in 1987 with Zayre being the main anchor. It probably was the last new Zayre store to open in Maine. Shaw's followed not long after. Zayre was acquired by Ames around 1989. Ames moved out the Ames Plaza and re-opened in the former Zayre in 1990. Shaw's, Radio Shack and Mr.Paperback opened in the late 80's.  Mr.Paperback closed in 2000, the same year that Dollar Zone re-opened after closing in the 90's.  Ames closed in 2002 after the bankruptcy of the company. Staples and Tjmaxx'n more eventually replaced Ames at the Harbor Plaza. In 2012 Fashion Bug announced it would close all of its stores including the Rockland location.
