This shopping center is located right off Interstate 95 on the former Pike Industries site in Westbrook. It was originally to feature up to 500,000 sq.ft of space. Plans have evolved since the initial announcement and were then showing two large anchor buildings (one of which was shaped like a Costco). Eventually Walmart, Hobby Lobby, 99 Restaurants and Chick-Fil-A were announced and newer site plans were no longer showing the Costco-shaped building but instead displayed a strip of small stores. Initially the project was called "Dirigo Plaza".
In 2017, the project partnered with Waterstone Retail Development and was expected to be built in two phases instead of three. The name Dirigo Plaza was eventually replaced by "The Ridge Westbrook" and later "The Ridge Greater Portland". On November 16 2017 it was announced that Walmart pulled out of the project and would be replaced by Maine's second Market Basket location.
In 2018, the project evolved again to become a mixed-use project featuring retail, urban living, hotel, dining, entertainment, workplaces, wellness and recreation and was renamed yet again, this time to "Rock Row".
Phase 1 of the project received its okay in September 2018. It includes Market Basket and eight other buildings, one of which will be a Starbucks. The supermarket was expected to open in November 2019 but was delayed to the spring of 2020. Its opening eventually happened in August 2020. It was later joined by a Starbucks, The Paper Store, and Cinemark. The project could feature an Element by Westin hotel.
