What little difference there is between "yes" and "nay".

"Good" and "bad" — can you really define the difference?

Am I supposed to worry about the distinctions other make?

If I do, there is no end to worry!

Before the moon has waxed to its full limit

everybody is very happy like they are partaking at a great feast

or climbing to the sightseeing platform in springtime.

Alone, I remain unmoving, showing no signs,

an infant who has't yet smiled.

I am a drifter in this world claiming no particular place as home.

Most people have plenty to spare; I remain deficient, a fool, a simpleton!

Wordly people want to be dazzlingly bright; I alone seem dim.

Wordly people make clear distinctions; I alone lack their certainties.

I drift with the currents, blow with the winds, anchorless!

Most people have purpose-driven lives, but I am untrainable and unrefined!

This is why I am different from others:

I live by the nourishment of the Great Mother.
