with all the files ready to go, let's get started.
open my template and delete the copyright info layer.
add a new raster layer above the background layer and select all.
open the first paper (the striped paper) from the kit and copy.
paste into selection on the new raster layer.
select none.
apply the mask at default settings.
right click on the mask layer to merge the mask group.
resize the mask by 90%.
now duplicate the mask.
on the bottom mask layer, apply a guassian blur by 3.
merge down the mask with the blurred mask to one layer.
now add a new raster layer above the Circle2 template layer.
on the Circle2 template layer, select all/float/defloat.
open paper7 from the kit and copy.
paste into selection on the new raster layer.
select none and hide the Circle2 template layer.
now duplicate the paper circle layer.
on the duplicate (top layer), apply a cutout with the following settings:
V - 0
H - 0
O - 100%
B - 10.00
shadow color - #000000
fill interior - unchecked
now change the blend mode of the cutout layer to overlay.
merge down the cutout overlay with the paper circle.
now repeat the steps with the following paper and layers, only changing the Blur of the cutout.
Circle1 and paper5 - blur at 100.00
Rectangle and paper4 - blur at 100.00
Strips and paper1 - blur at 25.00
DiamondBack and paper6 - blur at 100.00
DiamondBorder and paper7 - blur at 10.00
now open the tube.
I didn't resize mine.
copy and paste (C/P) as a new layer one top.
position it in the center.
add a drop shadow.
I used the following:
OV - 1
H - 1
O - 50%
B - 8
color - #000000
shadow on new layer - unchecked
now duplicate the tube.
on the layer palette, drag the duplicate below the DiamondBorder/paper7 layer.
use your rectangle selection tool to make the following selection:
hit delete on the top tube layer.
invert your selection and hit delete on the bottom tube layer.
select none.
now use your magic wand tool to select the area outside the DiamondBack template layer.
hit delete on the bottom tube layer.
select none.
now go down to the background layer and select all.
crop to selection.
this erases any excess portions of the tube not visible on the canvas and gives a cleaner look.
now that all the basics are done, add any elements, text and tubes.
don't forget to add artist credit and license info.
when you're all done, copy special > copy merged.
paste as a new image and use your magic wand tool to select outside the tag.
invert selection and crop to selection.
that will get rid of any extra space that you don't need.
thanks for trying my tutorial! =)
