fright night

Tutorial done in PSPX2.

Must having some working knowledge of the program.

Fright Night PTU kit by me, purchase HERE.

Tube is by Gemini Creationz, purchase HERE.

with the files ready to go, let's get started.

open a new image with white background at 750px by 650px.

add a new raster layer above the background layer and select all.

open paper5 from the kit and copy.

paste into selection on the new raster layer and select none.

apply the mask at default settings.

right click on the mask layer to merge the mask group.

resize the mask group layer by 92%.

open frame3 from the kit and copy at 100%.

paste as a new layer above the mask layer.

duplicate the frame3 and change the blend mode of the duplicate to overlay.

merge down one layer so both frames are one layer.

use your freehand selection tool set with these settings:

make a selection around the frame like below:

now add a new raster layer below the frame3 layer.

open paper9 from the kit and copy.

paste into selection on the new raster layer and select none.

now duplicate the paper9 and change the blend mode of the duplicate paper to overlay.

merge down one layer so both papers are one layer.

now open the moon element from the kit and copy at 100%.

paste as a new layer above the paper9 layer.

pull it to the upper left corner of the frame.

change the blend mode to Luminance.

add a drop shadow with these settings:

V - 1

H - 1

O - 35%

B - 25.00

shadow color - #000000

interior fill color - unchecked

now open the tube and copy at 100%.

paste as a new layer above the moon element.

still on the tube, go up to effects > photo > black and white film

apply it with brightness and clarify both set at 0.

now change the blend mode to screen.

now using your freehand selection tool with the previous settings to make the following selection:

feather your selection by 20 and invert your selection.

hit delete on the tube layer.

now go down to the background layer and select all.

crop to selection. this gets rid of any excess portions of the tube not visible on the canvas.

now open the spookytown element from the kit and resize by 60%.

copy and paste (C/P) as a new layer above the tube layer.

mirror the spookytown element.

use my tag for placement reference of the spookytown.

now go up to effects > photo > black and white film

apply it with brightness and clarify both set at 0.

now change the blend mode to Luminance.

now open the full body tube and resize by 50%.

C/P as a new layer on top.

pull the tube to the right side of the frame.

now that all the basics are done, add any elements, text and tubes.

don't forget to add artist credit and license info.

when you're all done, copy special > copy merged.

paste as a new image and use your magic wand tool to select outside the tag.

invert selection and crop to selection.

that will get rid of any extra space that you don't need.
