dark magic fairy

Tutorial done in PSPX2.

Must having some working knowledge of the program.

open the template and delete the copyright layer.

put the following colors into your materials/color palette:

foreground - #314152

background - #c1c9cb

add a new raster layer above the strips layer.

flood fill the layer with #314152.

hide the original strips layer.

use your magic wand to select the area outside the strips.

hit delete on the fill layer.

select none.

now under effects, go to texture effects > texture.

select the woodgrain texture that comes with your PSP.

use these settings:

now add a new raster layer below the large circle layer.

switch the background to the foreground and use these gradient settings:

fill the new layer with the gradient.

using your pick tool, drag it down so it fits snug around the large circle.

it should look like below:

now add a new raster layer above the gradient layer and select all.

now open the texture overlay by GrannyArt.

copy and paste into selection on new layer.

select none.

set the blend mode to overlay.

now back on the large circle layer, float/defloat/invert selection.

hit delete on the gradient fill layer and texture overlay.

select none and hide the large circle layer.

merge down the texture overlay with the gradient fill layer.

repeat the same steps for the small circle, except for the gradient fill.

click the INVERT so the foreground and background colors are switched.

now add a new raster layer below the filmstrip layer.

gradient fill with the same settings as before except for the REPEATS, set it to 1

fill the new layer with the gradient.

use your pick tool to drag it in closer to the filmstrip.

under effects, go to texture effects > blinds.

on your filmstrip layer, float/defloat/invert selection.

hit delete on the gradient layer.

select none and hide the filmstrip layer.

now for your tube.

copy and paste it as a new layer above the filmstrip layer.

duplicate it twice so you have a total of 3.

position them behind the gradient filmstrip.

use your magic wand to click inside each frame and expand by 2.

invert your selection and hit delete on your tube for that frame.

repeat for each frame.

now add another tube if you prefer.

now click on the background layer and select all > crop to selection.

now add a new layer above the background layer.

flood fill with #314152.

apply the mask at default settings.

right click on the layer palette to merge mask group.

you're done with the basics. 

now add any text or brushes.

don't forget to add artist/license info.

when you're all done, copy special > copy merged. 

paste as a new image and use your magic wand tool to select outside the tag. 

invert selection and crop to selection. 

that will get rid of any extra space that you don't need.
