with all the files open, lets get started.

open the template and delete my copyright layer.

add a new raster layer above the background layer.

flood fill it with this color: #672485

duplicate the flood fill layers.

hide the duplicate/top layer.

apply the mask at default settings to the bottom purple fill layer.

right click on the mask layer to merge the mask group.

now unhide the top/duplicate fill layer.open

add a new raster layer above the flood fill layer.

select all on the new layer.

open paper10.

on the paper, go to effects > photo effects > black and white film.

copy and paste (C/P) into selection on the new raster layer.

select none.

set the blend mode to paper10 to hard light.

merge down with the purple flood fill layer.

now open the tube and C/P it as a new layer above the oval template layer.

pull it slightly to the left so the straight edges of the tube is outside the oval.

like below, click image for larger preview:

now add a drop shadow to the tube.

duplicate the tube.

using your rectangle selection tool, make the following selection:

hit delete on the top tube layer.

invert your selection and hit delete on the bottom tube layer.

now select the oval on the layer palette and select all/float/defloat/invert selection.

open the windowframe element from the kit and resize by 70%.

leave it centered.

use your magic wand to select inside the frames and expand by 10.

add a new raster layer below the frame.

open a paper of your choice and C/Paste into selection.

select none.

now that all the basics are done, add any elements, text and tubes.

don't forget to add artist credit and license info.

when you're all done, go down to the background layer and select all.

image > crop to selection.

this gets rid of any extra stuff not visible on the canvas.

hide the background layer.

edit > copy special > copy merged.

paste as a new image and use your magic wand tool to select outside the tag.

invert selection and crop to selection.

that will get rid of any extra space that you don't need.
