Security and safety

Security is protection against fraud, or intentional aggression.

Safety is protection against error and accident.

The two words are not synonymous: you wear a safety belt. Things get confusing in the context of translation: in French, it is a ceinture de sécurité you wear, and security would rather translate to sûreté (if the word was not slightly outdated); Russian has only one word, безопасность ('absence of danger'), for both concepts...

The two dimensions don't align. They are not orthogonal either. It is quite typical that increasing security would weaken safety, and vice versa.

Trust would be based on a mix.
