The word continuous in Continuous Integration is at best a misnomer, at worst a fraud.
What continuous means in CI, is synchronized, i.e. syntopic, in a space of power: a better word would be totalitarian!
It imposes a preferred context, this of the integration project, and creates discontinuity in every one of the development contexts: this of contributors. It a thus a weapon of alienation.
Continuity is, as shown in Where Mathematics Comes From?, a cornerstone concept in the history of mathematics, hence of thought and western civilisation: first conceptualized by Descartes and Newton as intuitive and sensible, it was formalized around 1870 by Dedekind and Weierstraß, this event grounding formalism and forking mathematics from physics as the reference domain of intellectual rigor.
