Hi, it's Julia from the Wellness Council. It may still sort of feel like the start of school for many of you. Perhaps, you're finding it a little hard to get out of bed, change out of your pjs in the morning and stay organized for your classes. If so, here are some tips that may help you with your workspace.
Here is a great example of an effective work space. This diagram contains some really great tips on what you should aim to do at home.
Maximizing your workspace will make you the most effective each for an online day of school. It is recommended that you have your desk set up the night before. This way, you can avoid that morning rush (and sleep in a little longer) and ensure that you are your very best for a day of online learning. Let me guide you on what you should consider including in your workspace:
Beverage - I think that it is a great idea to have any beverage on your desk to stay hydrated throughout the school day. It’s best to get this in the morning, so you're not going up and down in your house to get stuff that is needed throughout the day. You definitely don’t want to miss any crucial information in class.
Notebook - A notebook is very helpful when it comes to writing any extra notes beyond the note packages given by your teachers. This will help to prevent you from losing any important notes. Avoid scribbling notes on scrap pieces of paper.
Computer - A computer is a necessity for online learning. Before classes, you could set up your tab on google meet/blackboard collaborate.
Notes from Teachers for the Day - To prevent wasting time printing out your notes, look on Bb ahead of time to print each set of notes before your class begins so you can pay full attention to the lesson that is being taught.
Pencil - A writing utensil is key to having a successful day, even for online learning. It is important to keep one beside you at all times because you don’t want to scramble for one when you need it.
Hopefully, these tips have inspired you on how best to create an effective workspace for your day of online learning. It’s still early in the school year, so it’s not too late to put in place an effective work space. Be creative in organizing your workspace, that way your workspace will feel right for you
