Before the gods were born, when there was no sea and darkness filled every space in the world, there was the solitary goddess Bripoy, the mother of all. And she felt a great longing and, with a sigh that shook the stars, she decided to give life. A light emerged from her that illuminated the darkness and her belly. And, with the cold of the wind, Bripoy[1] gave birth to Dorsus[2] and Toruy[3], who are the guardian of the day and the guardian of the night and dance among the stars. But her belly did not close then. And Lius[4], filled with the breath of her flesh, separated from the womb and rose to cover the world. And Nierc[5], the son of the lamentations of her birth, was born with a divine roar, like the ighnorus[6], calling to nature. The divine blood that emerged from Bripoy's womb, full of life, poured out onto the sea floor and became the waters of the world. From these whales and large fish emerged, creatures that live in the oceans, and the meat of Bripoy fell on their backs, thus creating the islands. Thus, Bripoy found comfort in the company of her sons, filling the world with them and giving it an image. And, among the great oceans that extended throughout the newborn world, the waters boiled and, from the depths, large animals of all shapes emerged, that crossed the waves beautifully, and, in bright colors, danced among the reefs. And, along with the whales and the fish, the most ancient creatures, which move under the shadows of the depths, engendered by the solitude and power of Bripoy, populated the newborn seas, filling them with life and death.
And Ugoy, who was the largest whale of those who live among the waters, and Saritoy, who was the largest fish of those who live among the waters, joined together and she gave birth to three large eggs. One fell to the depths of the sea and the others rose to the surface of the water. Then Nierc saw them and, thinking that a water animal was looking to attack his mother, he fired a lightning bolt at them, which crossed the waters, lifting those that held one of the eggs, which flew towards Lius. There he took it and took care of it until it broke and all the animals that navigate among the clouds came out of it. And the other egg that was on the surface of the waters reached Bripoy's body and, breaking, all the animals that live on her came out. And the weight of the waters crushed the egg that fell into its depths, breaking it, and from it came all the animals that live among the waters. Then, for fear that they would hurt her, Bripoy separated Ugoy and Saritoy from her flesh. But on Ugoy's back were a man and a woman. And they moved away from the other animals. Then Toruy killed many rabbits and with their meat she made a boat and in it she entered the seas and went to Ugoy. She climbed onto its back and looked for the man and woman and told them to follow her. But these did not speak. Then the goddess taught them to speak and told them to follow her. But their legs were short like those of other animals. Then she made them stand on two of their four legs and made the ones they used to stand on longer and told them to follow her. But they did not want to leave the food that was theirs on Ugoy's back. Then the goddess turned their upper paws into hands, so that they could take their food, and the goddess told them to follow her. And the man and the woman took their food and followed her to their boat. Then Toruy took a piece of his boat and stuck it in Ugoy's chest, for the pain he had committed. And he died there and his body sank into the waters, but he was very large and his back remained above the surface of the waters.
And Bripoy feared that the sons of Saritoy would unite and betray the gods. Then she separated them all from her flesh and one body belonged to each one. And Dorsus breathed on these flesh, so that his fiery breath would fill them with a life that burns with youth, but dies with old age. And he made his breath into a great ball of fire and took it to Lius, so that the flames of all the animals could be maintained with its heat. And Lius made of his blood a great roof, which would cover all the animals, so that they would not see the gods, and with pieces of his flesh he splashed this sea, forming clouds that would hold the waters high. And Toruy made a large ball of ice with the cold of her hands and threw it into the sea that Lius had created, to cool the meat of the animals, so that the fire would not burn on them and burn them. And Bripoy took the ball of fire that his son had made and sprinkled it on her body, causing great trees and mountains to grow on it. And Dorsus saw the shining body of Toruy and, desiring her, they united and begot two twin sisters, Dipoy[7] and Lidabry[8], and the first bathed in the flames of the fireball, which her father had created, and so she descended to Bripuy, to touch the sons of animals, filling them with life. But these multiplied and the heat of the fire burned Bripuy's heart, who died there. Then her sister bathed in her blood and went up to the sea of Lius, making the waters fall on these animals, to put out their fires and reduce them until the gods could control them again.
