Paul Mort

Having served his apprenticeship with H. Thomson Jones between August 12, 1954 & April 6, 1957, Paul Richard Mort first appeared on a racecard on March 6, 1959, riding Tuckernuck for Folkestone trainer Ted Long.

Paul rode his first winner, Woodworm, on April 23, 1959, at Wincanton.

He rode two winners the following season, Trappist Boy at Folkestone on September 9, 1959, and Creek at Plumpton on December 2, 1959.

His fourth came on Rum Club at Fontwell 22 December 1962.

Paul's fifth and final winner came on Apa Macham at Plumpton on 28 March 1964.

It was on this horse and still claiming 7 lb that Paul had his final ride on March 24, 1965.

He was born on February 21, 1939, and lived at 2 Braeside Cottages, Elham, Kent.

Paul enjoyed boxing & swimming.
