David Moxon

David Anthony Moxon held a National Hunt jockey’s licence for four seasons between 1961 and 1965 and rode a total of four winners. He rode for Bill Brookes, who trained at Eaton Constantine, in Shropshire and supplied all four of David’s winners.

David scored his first victory on juvenile hurdler Doraline at Stratford on November 18th, 1961. Twelve months passed before he rode his second, Lordling in the Frank Pickering Handicap Hurdle at Worcester, but his third arrived just three days later, Sythian at Uttoxeter. Sythian was also his fourth and final victory when winning the Town Handicap Hurdle at Hereford on Easter Monday 1963.

After hanging up his riding boots, David stayed in Shropshire and became head lad to trainer Tom Corrie, based at Leighton Hall.

David Moxon’s four winners were:

1. Doraline, Stratford-on-Avon, November 18th, 1961

2. Lordling, Worcester, November 14th, 1962

3. Sythian, Uttoxeter, November 17th, 1962

4. Sythian, Hereford, April 15th, 1963
