Kevin McCauley

Kevin Barry McCauley, of Huby, near York, was born on 8 February, 1947.

He started out as an amateur. Retained by Royston trainer Willie Stephenson, he rode his first winner, Last of the Moors, at Hexham on 2 October, 1967.

His best season came in 1975-76, when he partnered 15 winners.

The best horse he rode was Stamad, on which he won several races.

After hanging up his boots and saddle he became a stud manager.
