Edward Meyricke

Captain Edward Gally Meyricke, aged 31, riding his own horse, Wych Elm, at Aldershot on November 30, 1905, was killed when the horse fell on top of him during a steeplechase.

His body was brought from Aldershot by train and buried at St Lawrence's Church, Ludlow on Monday 4 December.

Edward, Adjutant of the 1st Gloucester Volunteer Engineers, was the son of the late Rev. Robert Meyricke, Rector of St Lawrence's.

The pallbearers were six sergeants of the Royal Engineers, Aldershot, in full uniform.
