Tom Morgan

Thomas Morgan was born at Ashbourne, Co Meath, on April 17, 1963 and was apprenticed to Michael Kauntze.

He rode his first winner, Cocoa, at Phoenix Park on April 15, 1978.

Tom was joint-champion jockey in Ireland before coming to England in 1985-86 to ride for John Edwards.

He had his best season in 1988-89 with 51 wins.


He rode a total of 137 winners before retiring with weight problems in August 1991 aged 28.

1989: Cathcart - Observer Corps


He also finished second on Yahoo in the 1989 Cheltenham Gold Cup.
