William MacDonald

1800 - 1856

William - always known as 'Mac' - was born in Shoreditch and served his time with Samuel Pearce.

He won the 1840 Derby on Little Wonder - which was almost certainly a four year old - and was presented with a whip after by Prince Albert.

He also took part with no little success in riding and driving trotting races.

He was married and later became a trainer at Epsom.
