David Stanley Moore was born on February 25, 1938, and started his career as an amateur.
He was a tall jockey who rode 109 winners: he would probably have ridden more had he been smaller & lighter.
He dead-heated on his first winner, Star of Pampas, at Taunton on May 5, 1955.
His best wins came on Simian in both the 1970 Massey-Ferguson and the Geoffrey Gilbert Memorial Chase in the same year.
He also won the 1966 Gloucestershire Hurdle (Div 2) on Fosco & the 1966 Highclere Hurdle on Sarto.
Another grand horse he rode was Wilhelmina Henrietta.
David died in Winchester in April 2002 aged 64.
