Making a Difference Speaker Series - Dr. Kasbarian
Last week, RHS welcomed the return of the "Making a Difference" Speaker Series, which is a program that highlights the impact individuals can have, even in the darkest parts of our world. With the help of Social Studies teacher, Mrs. Demirjian, and department supervisor, Mr. Ferreri, guest speaker Dr. Antranig Kasbarian visited our school to present about the history of the Armenian Genocide and its connection to the current crisis in Ukraine. Students and staff were able to engage in a Q&A after the lecture to further explore topics of interest. These events would not be possible without the support of the staff and students of the RHS Social Studies and English departments. Thank you for your ongoing support!

Bergen Community College Culinary Competition
Dr. Natalie Bray's first place culinary team shines in their first competition on Friday, April 22, 2022!
At their first culinary competition at BCC, Finn McGrath, Winter Piraino, Audrey Hall, and Thomas Malone demonstrated some serious skills in the kitchen! A combination of organization, talent, technique, taste, and style were the main ingredients that brought home the win, out-plating Indian Hills, Paramus, and Leonia HS. The competitors faced off against the clock to prepare a creative entrée featuring a protein, side, and dessert. Students plated full-sized portions for three professional chef judges and 60 small-bite plates for audience participation and won first place overall and the popular vote.
Elementary Instrument Demonstrations
Students from the RHS Band and Orchestra visited all six elementary schools last week to provide instrument demonstrations to each school. Students talked about their instruments and played for the students so that they can begin to think about which instruments they may choose to play in 5th grade! At the conclusion of each demonstration, the ensembles performed "Go Get Em' Ridgewood" together to show what it sounds like when every instrument plays together.
Essay Contest - National Finalist
Will wrote an article on Glen H. Taylor, who served as a US senator from 1945 to 1951. Will's piece was selected as one of five national finalists in the JFK Library Foundation's Profiles in Courage high school essay contest. The announcement will be made officially next month.
