In the Classroom

RAHP

Hayley Clarke, RHS and RAHP graduate ('13), is now a nurse at Valley Hospital. She runs patient education programs for new parents in the Mother/Baby Unit at the hospital. Hayley took some time to share some of her programming with our current RAHP 10 and 11 students on a recent trip to the Hospital.

We all Scream for Ice Cream!

In the study of the Solution Unit, Chemistry Honors students took advantage of the colligative properties of freezing point depression. They were able to mix ice, add the proper amount of salt  to reach -20 degree centigrade in a Ziploc bag, and enjoyed class-made delicious ice cream. They even made non-dairy ice cream from Silk for classmates who have lactose intolerance. What a way to celebrate the first day of spring!

Club Happenings

Morgan's Message Club

Morgan’s Message is a non-profit organization created by the family and friends of Morgan Rogers, a lacrosse player who played for Duke and sadly lost her life to suicide July 11, 2019 at the age of 22. Morgan endured a major knee injury her sophomore year which caused her self esteem to plummet and although she never showed that her injury affected her mentally, she grappled with the feeling that she was not living up to her own and others expectations. A sense of isolation from her team also resulted in anxiety and depression. Morgan suffered in silence, keeping her family and friends in the dark. Morgan’s legacy of unconditional love remains. Her energy empowers those she has left behind to transform devastation into action. Morgan’s Message is now committed to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health within the student-athlete community, normalize conversations about mental health, empower those who are/have been suffering in silence, and support those who feel alone. By bringing a chapter of Morgan’s Message to Ridgewood High School, we hope to take a shot at mental health by eliminating the stigma surrounding mental health in all students, and specifically in student athletes.
