Ridgewood High School Percussion Ensemble Students Advance in Chamber Music Society Competition
Ridgewood, NJ – February 5, 2024 – Raghav Shukla, Sean Brady, Vincent Guerrero, and Michael Brescia, members of the Ridgewood High School Percussion Ensemble under the direction of Gary Fink, have been named winners in the first round of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s Young Musician Concert Regional Competition. The ensemble submitted a captivating performance video of Tombolo for 4 percussionists, earning them a spot in the upcoming New Jersey Regional Concert.
The talented students will advance to the next round by performing at the New Jersey Regional Concert on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Bergen County Academies. As part of this year’s competition, they will also receive a one-hour online coaching session via Zoom with a Chamber Music Society artist before the Regional Concert.
This marks the 19th time since 1998 that members of the Ridgewood High School Percussion Ensemble have been selected to perform for a Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center event, showcasing the school's rich tradition of musical excellence.

APES Students try out Curling
11 AP Environmental Science students tried out curling at an event at the Ardsley Curling Club in Dobbs Ferry, NY last weekend. Mr. Luo and three ACC members, including 2023 Club National Champion Seré Politano, taught the attendees the basics of curling. Everyone got to play two ends (or innings), had a great time, and left with sore sweeping muscles!

Former ADA Karin Boucher discusses changes in Law from advances in Science.
Former Assistant District Attorney Karin Boucher spoke with the Forensic Science Classes, and Constitutional Law and Criminal Law classes about the changing of laws from advances in Science, including DNA.

Quizbowl Qualifies for Nationals!
Celebration of La Chandeleur
The French club opened crêpe making to its members in celebration of La Chandeleur, also known as Candlemass. The round shape and golden color of crêpes represent the sun and the return of spring and 22 members joined to celebrate!
