Around the School
Art teacher, Mr. Dan DaSilva, shared his photo of a sunrise view over the Ridgewood High School bell tower on a recent snowy morning.
In the Classroom
Art History students visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Retired FBI Special Agent Gratwohl spoke with the Forensics and Criminal Law classes about cases -- including the recent killing of United Health Case Executive and the University of Idaho State murders from 2022. The students had an opportunity to put on FBI bullet proof vest and other FBI equipment.
Additionally, the Forensic Science classes learned to take fingerprints and then practiced on other students and faculty. Thank you to all that participated!
A Shakespearean Insult Rap Battle took place in Mrs. John & Mrs. Farrar's English 9 class.
Club Happenings
Girls Who Code
The RHS GirlWhoCode club introduced over 150 GW students to Computer Science on Friday 1/31. The club members met with most 8th grade math classes and led programming activities including the use of microcontrollers which allowed students to programatically make music and images. Thanks to the GW math teachers Mrs. Gould and Mr. Betrus for allowing us into their classrooms!
French Club
On Wednesday, February 5th, 2025, Ridgewood High School's French Club discussed our involvement in the French Day at Montclair State University (Friday March 21st), talking about trip details and potential skits we could do for our French Day video submission!
If you are interested in learning more about the French language, culture, and traditions, consider joining us in Room 332 during lunch every other Wednesday.
Follow our Instagram, @rhs._.french._.club for updates and reminders!
Ski Team
The second half of the season is underway, and the varsity alpine ski teams had a fantastic showing at the first Grand Slalom race at Mountain Creek. The women's team continues to dominate, securing 1st place once again! The men's team is off to a strong start, finishing comfortably in 6th out of 13 competing schools. A special shout out to Ridgewood's superintendent, Dr. Mark Schwarz, who made a surprise appearance to cheer on our athletes.
