Club Happenings
DECA
RHS DECA Students traveled to Anaheim, California to compete at the International Career Development Conference. Each event had 200 students from across the US, Canada, and China and represented the best from their region. We are pleased to announce the following winners:
Ashley Auerbach, Sammy Lee, and Mia Gallo placed top 20 in their event, which was a community awareness project for Morgan's Message. Many of you have seen the sports team wearing shirts dedicated to Morgan's Message and/or attended a dedication game. These students continue to make us proud as they spread awareness for the importance of supporting mental health awareness in our students, specifically with a focus on athletes. They continue to focus on striving to eliminate the stigma that surrounds mental health.
Kate Schmitt and Raphaella Bravo were top 10 in their event, Hospital and Tourism Operations Research Event. They selected the Bergen County Zoo, analyzed their current recruiting, hiring, and on boarding policies and procedures. From their research they created a plan of action to enhance the current policies.
Maggie Zhou competed in the Accounting Applications Series Event. She took a 100 question financial based exam and completed two impromptu role play scenarios (without technology support she needed to solve a prompt or case study). After this first round, Maggie earned herself a place in the finals (top 20) and a medal for top role play score in her group for her second role play. After completing a new impromptu for the final round, Maggie was top 10 out of the 20 finalists. Her studying and preparation was a key component in her success.
In addition all students participated in a 3 hour educational academy through the Imagination Campus program at Disneyland. Our Disney leaders had students complete a series of self-reflecting tasks to learn more about their leadership styles. Students then heard and had a Q&A with an upper level manager at Disney to see leadership in action. Disney's core leadership rules and practices were also shared with them.
Overall it was a successful conference and competition and the students took away many life lessons and real world experiences.

German Club
This week the German Club made "Spaghettieis", ice cream that looks like pasta. Students enjoyed topping the "Spaghetti" with marinara sauce (strawberry topping), meatballs (maltese balls), parmesan (white sprinkles) and a breadstick (lady finger cookies).
Spaghettieis can be found in ice cream parlors and cafes across Germany and is a popular treat in the summer.
Project Interact
Elise Markarian was the Project Interact club member of the month for April. Elise is a dedicated member who volunteers many hours. She can always be counted on for the monthly food drives. Way to Go Elise! Elise is pictured with the PI leaders.

Applied Engineering Club
Applied Engineering Club’s 90 members, from freshmen to seniors, embark on a year-round invention journey to address
real-world challenges within our school, local community, and beyond. Through collaborative efforts, these teams—Road Runners, Safe Waters, Br-Ozone, Sight Shoes, DynaCharge, ViriTec, Sountricity, STEAMPiRE, Shock Sleeve, Eco Riders, Infoband, Thermovolt, and ZeroPlast—have demonstrated remarkable empathy, critical thinking, creativity, and resilience. They have completed a rigorous month-long competition at the NJSTEAM Tank Regional, where over 400 schools across New Jersey participated. Subsequently, ten teams showcased their innovations through videos and engineering notebooks at the international Thomas Edison Pitch Contest, attracting participation from over 300 teams worldwide. Team Safe Waters and Team ViriTec have emerged as finalists in the NJSTEAM Tank, earning the opportunity to vie for prize money in the upcoming final round scheduled from
May 28 to 31. Their selection highlights their talents and the impact of their innovative solutions.
