Graphing with People
Mr. Scevola's period 1 Algebra 2 Honors class went to gym 3 and used cones to create an x and y axis. Students were first assigned an x value. Then they were given a rule to find the y value. They individually walked forward/backward to their y value and collectively, as points, created a graph.
A graph of y = |x| using human points.

The Green Club is Growing Plants Indoors Using Hydroponics
The Green Club started to plant kale, basil, dill, peas, and beans, which will grow indoors throughout the winter. Some will be growing without soil in the club's hydroponics system. We are hoping they grow healthily enough to be offered for sale later in the year!
The Green Club aims to promote sustainable living among the RHS community. Our projects include managing the school garden, improving recycling rates, diverting cafeteria waste from landfills, and participating in village events. We meet on Wednesdays during lunch in Room 391.

2023 GRAMMYS Nomination for RHS Student and Alumni
RHS Class of 2023 student David Song (violin) and RHS Class of 2022 alumni Jiah Lee (violin) and Ludia Kim (viola) are part of the NYYS's album that has been nominated for the 2023 GRAMMYs under the 'Best Orchestral Performance' category.
"In the fall of 2020, when live performances were shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the New York Youth Symphony Orchestra and Music Director Michael Repper decided that instead of their usual concert at Carnegie Hall, they would record their very first studio album. This presented several challenges. The heightened safety protocol meant that the full 110 musician orchestra could not be in the same space together; playing separated and socially distanced meant sometimes recording to a click track, while wearing headphones, a skill most of the musicians had to learn quickly. The Grammy award-winning producer Judith Sherman and recording engineer Isaiah Abolin then layered the tracks on top of each other. It was a true feat and the results are incredible!" (nyys.org)
The album was released in April 2022 and hit number one on the Traditional Classical Billboard Charts twice. The nominations were announced on November 15, 2022. The 65th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony will be held on February 5, 2023, at 7:00 PM (EST).
The newly Grammy-nominated New York Youth Symphony orchestra performed their first concert cycle of their 60th season on Sunday, November 20 at Carnegie Hall.
