Banned Books Week
Banned Books Week (September 18th - September 24th) is an annual event from The American Library Association that celebrates the freedom to read and spotlights current and historical attempts to censor books in libraries and schools. Students are encouraged to stop by the Learning Commons to check out the Banned Books display, learn more about censorship, and find out why some of their favorite titles have been challenged.
Hispanic Heritage Month
From September 15th to October 15th—and all year round, join the Learning Commons in celebrating the cultures and contributions of Hispanic Americans. Visit the Learning Commons to view this month's window display featuring works of fiction from Hispanic authors. These books and more are available for checkout in print or in our ebook collections, MackinVia and Sora.
Project Interact
Guest speaker, Ridgewood Police Sgt. McKeon, shared information about the volunteer opportunity at the food truck event for pediatric cancer research on October 9th. The Project Interact leaders introduced him at a Tuesday club meeting.
National Honor Society Tutoring
The National Honor Society is ready for another year of peer-tutoring! "Drop In" tutoring sessions are held every day, from 3:15-4:15 pm. This year, we are also piloting daytime tutoring sessions during the periods BEFORE and AFTER lunch. There will be anywhere from 1-3 NHS tutors available to help students with a variety of subjects. All sessions will be held in the Learning Commons, Conference Room D.
RHS Girls Soccer Senior Night
On September 20th, the RHS Girls Soccer program held their annual Senior Night honoring the 17 seniors on the team. The Seniors were celebrated by their families and the underclassmen who made posters for each player. To cap off the day, Ridgewood played Hackensack winning 4-0. Immediately following the game, the Varsity team, along with the senior families, were treated to a celebratory BBQ. Congratulations to the Class of 2023!
