RHS Percussion Quartet to Perform at
Alice Tully Hall
Ava Fontus, Jason Lee, Anderson Joseph, and Will Burton have been selected to perform at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center in NYC on May 7th, 2026, for the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s 42nd Annual Young Musicians Concert. They will be performing the exciting 2nd movement of Minoru Miki's "'Marimba Spiritual.'"
The students performed this piece at our Small Ensembles Concert in January and submitted a recording of the piece to be considered for the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s Young Musicians’ Concert. They were selected to perform at the NJ Regional Concert in February. Their performance was considered to be one of the top groups selected from over 100 submissions from the Tri-state region.
This will be the 19th time since 1998 that an RHS Percussion group has been selected by the Chamber Music Society to perform under the direction of Gary Fink.
Tickets for their performance at 11:00 am next Thursday are free and available at https://tickets.chambermusicsociety.org/syos/performance/2319?lang=en.

Ridgewood High School has been paired with Beaucamps Ste. Marie, a French high school outside of Lille (northern France) since 2017. Eight students recently had the amazing opportunity to live the real French life this past Spring Break through our French Exchange Program. After hosting them here in October 2024, students stayed with their French correspondents for eight days. They attended school (which ends at 5:30 pm!) and truly experienced French family life. The students also spent one day visiting Bruges, Belgium, and one day exploring Paris. This trip provided an opportunity to use the language, experience culture and make global connections in a way they will never forget. French teachers Laura Polk (RHS) and Celeste Riley (GW) organized and chaperoned this third trip to France.

Shakespearean Rap Battle
In Mrs. John and Mrs. Darragh's English 9 class, students participated in a Shakespearean Rap Battle. This is a fun way to teach students about the family rivalry in Romeo and Juliet and have fun with Shakespearan language/insults.
Our Forensic Science students got an inside look at real-world investigations when a retired Special DEA agent visited the classroom! With years of experience in the field, the guest speaker shared fascinating stories from actual cases, giving students a deeper understanding of how forensic science is used to solve crimes.
An unforgettable evening at Unified’s first annual Prom! Students came together in the Campus Center to enjoy music, dancing, and sweet treats—all while making lasting memories with friends.

Micropipette Artwork created by Genetics & Biotechnology students.
Students in Mrs. Joseph's Genetics & Biotechnology class explored the connection between art and science through a hands-on micropipetting activity using colored water and reaction plates. As they practiced their micropipetting skills by carefully transferring small amounts of liquid, they also created fun patterns and designs, turning a basic lab skill into a creative experience.
As part of their Architecture Week celebration, the AIA Architects League of Northern New Jersey administered the NJ Architecture Week Women’s STEAM Interscholastic High School Architecture Tower Challenge on Tuesday, April 14, hosted at Hackensack High School. In its third year, this competition is designed for teams of girls in grades 9-12 from Northern New Jersey high schools in Bergen, Sussex, Passaic, and Hudson counties.
This program was recognized by AIA (American Institute of Architects) National with a K-12 Architecture Week Grant.
Mr. Cronk brought two teams (eight female architecture students) to participate at the event. The following Ridgewood senior students will be attending college in the fall for architecture: Mia Oberthuer (NJIT), Jordan Walker (Howard University), Ella Ricci (University of Miami), and Isabelle Walsh (Syracuse University).

Colorful parrots and rare tropical birds are disappearing from the wild due to illegal trafficking and habitat destruction in Central America & beyond. To raise awareness, members of the Honor Society participated in Sustainability Day by sharing information about this growing crisis and ways people can help protect endangered species. Through a successful cookie sale, students raised $100 to donate to the World Parrot Trust Fund, an organization dedicated to rescuing parrots and preserving their natural habitats.
On Thursday, April 30th, Ridgewood Mayor Paul Vagianos visited Model Congress during unit lunch. The mayor took time out of his busy schedule to discuss with the club the life of someone in public service. Mr. Vagianos introduced himself and explained to the group of students how he became involved in local politics. He also discussed the importance of civic participation before taking questions from the club ranging from general topics to Ridgewood-specific inquiries. It was a great learning experience for all those involved!
Project Interact was at the Daffodil Festival at Van Neste Square in Ridgewood last weekend.
Members helped with various activities like kids crafts and the petting zoo.
DOUBLE HEADER REGATTA CHAMPIONS!
Ridgewood Crew had an incredible weekend on the Cooper River, bringing home 15 medals, 3 trophies, and 2 state titles, plus a record-breaking 11 national championship qualifiers, the most of any school at this year's Garden State Scholastic Championships.
The boys claimed their 4th consecutive state sculling title, and the girls won their first state title since 2023, powered by an outstanding group of underclassmen. Then on Sunday, our rowers came right back and beat out 70+ teams from 8 states at the Cooper Cup Regatta.
