Around the School
On April 9th, RHS history students gained a profound perspective on the Holocaust through a visit from Gerald Zaks, a second-generation Holocaust survivor from Mahwah, NJ. Mr. Zaks shared the extraordinary story of his parents’ survival through multiple concentration camps in Poland during World War II.
His presentation combined historical records, Nazi documents, and audio interviews he recorded with his parents in 1980. The result was a powerful blend of personal testimony and historical evidence, showing the resilience of ordinary people in extraordinary times.
Mr. Zaks urged students to become keepers of memory, standing against hatred and ensuring these stories are never forgotten. You can learn more about the Zaks family story on his website, GeraldZaks.com.

Career Pathways in Medicine
Jessica Coppola, COTA/L, is a licensed healthcare professional based in New York, specializing as an Occupational Therapy Assistant. On Wednesday, April 23rd, she visited the Career Pathways in Medicine II (CPM II) class at RHS to provide insight into the daily responsibilities and experiences of an occupational therapist. Throughout her presentation, students had the opportunity to ask questions, gain a deeper understanding of the educational pathway required to pursue a career in occupational therapy, and explore a variety of adaptive tools commonly used to support patient care. Thank you, Jessica!
PREP Program
The PREP program had a visit from Seeing Eye Puppy Raisers to learn about the program. The little puppies have so many big responsibilities. The PREP program helped the puppies practice socializing in a school setting, which is a very important part of their training!

Green Club
The Green Club attended the Climate Awareness Grant Culminating Event at the Meadowlands Environmental Center in Lyndhurst, where they gave presentations on the benefits of installing wildflower meadows over traditional lawns. They also helped attendees learn how to make seed bombs - chunks of clay with wildflower seeds that can be planted anywhere outdoors. They explained that wildflower meadows increase visual appeal, require less maintenance, and serve as important habitats for native species. Students also went on bird walks to learn about waterfowl in the Meadowlands.
