World Languages

Mrs. Gigante’s Latin II class got to attend a special virtual Q&A event with acclaimed author Rick Riordan, author of the Percy Jackson series among many other mythologically-themed novels. Mr. Riordan talked about his newest Percy Jackson novel; on his new quest, he has to get a college recommendation from the gods! He spoke about the writing experience and his adventures creating his first series for Disney+. We all enjoyed the presentation thoroughly!

Architecture I

On Tuesday, October 3rd, Architecture I class took a stroll outside the classroom
to observe various architectural styles and sketch houses based on observation.
The sketches will be turned into watercolor paintings at a later time during class.

Ridgewood Oktoberfest

The Ridgewood Oktoberfest Event Team recruited several Senior AP Art students from Ridgewood High School to design fall/halloween themed window paintings to be displayed on select storefront windows in the West Side Business District:

Madeline Haskins

Owen Scott

Ash Spencer

Bea Clay

Brianna Fasano

Anastasia Toporova

Ella Sands

Charlotte Sands

Jisung Lee

Each student designed a theme for two businesses, and was paired with a group of 4th graders.
TIK TOC parent coordinator Stephanie Ohnegian helped to organize the 4th grade students
who volunteered from all 6 elementary schools to help paint the designs after school on Monday.
Please see photos below!

This is a competition that will be judged this weekend at the Oktoberfest celebration on the West side of the train station. Each participating store will have a voting box inside and patrons can vote for their favorite! The winning AP Art student
and their 4th grade team will receive a prize for the best design!

Designs will be up and viewable for the month of October.

FTC Robotics

The Woodchips, Ridgewood’s very own FTC Robotics team, has been meeting every week to prepare for
their upcoming competition season. With great success from the club fair, they’ve gained many new members to aid
the legacy team in this year's games. The robotics team has been working in the shadows, forming new plans for the robot
and strategy this year, as well as teaching the new members the basics about the team and FTC.

Applied Engineering Club

Applied Engineering Club is off to a good start, with over 200 students signed up. Twelve invention teams have formed, and more teams are to form. Team members moved to the brainstorming invention ideas phase, coached by the experienced senior leaders (Anna O'Connor, Anthony Alters, Brooke Ward, Carys Gallo, Devyn Siversen, Eliana Gluck, Emmet Kunzle, Morgan Anderson, Reina Trivedi, Shadman Quayum and Tate Cunningham) and advised by Mr. Richard Plattel and Lillian Labowsky.

Project Interact

Last weekend, the Project Interact Club held its first food drive of the year. They successfully collected and sorted crates of food that will be donated to Father English in Paterson and Ridgewood Social Services. They also volunteered at the PBA Food Truck Festival on Sunday, where they helped run carnival games and helped raise money for Pediatric Cancer Research. During their club meeting on Tuesday, they donated $200 toward the cause. If you are interested in joining the club, meetings are every Tuesday after school in room 298.
