RHS Guidance Hosts College Speaker Series

Last week,  the RHS  Guidance Department hosted the fall edition of The College Speaker Series. RHS School Counselors Lauren Hellman, Laura Lauria, and Christine Salerno joined Director of Guidance, Dave Bailey, to give a presentation on specific aspects of the college admissions process including:

1. The most important piece of a student's application remains the same as it always has in college admissions - the high school academic record (transcript).

2. Updates made this summer to RHS' transcript.

3. Common Data Set - what it is and how it can help students and parents when creating their list of schools to apply to.

4. Resources RHS Guidance trusts and relies on (people, books, blogs, etc.).

A Q&A session with the audience followed. 160 parents from the RHS community joined this session, with each grade level represented.

The RHS Guidance Department will look to provide more of these programs for our community so we can continue to demystify the college admissions process and educate our students & parents. We are here to help.

This meeting was recorded and is now available on YouTube or Spotify.

Download Now!

RHS Computer Club students, Jaywu Jun, Michael Lyakerman, Tyler Minn and Mathias Nguyen-Van-Duong, created RHS Student App, a schedule management app for the RHS community. Both students and parents can download the app and enter classes and teachers through a settings page. The app will show regular and adjusted schedules, as well as the dates of current and even future school events. It also receives notifications of teacher absences and school announcements, allowing students to either sleep in longer or plan ahead for the day. Special thanks to Mr. Bailey, Mr. Morhun, Mrs. Richardson and Mr. Gyulay for their support!
