Tierney Johnson is an RHS junior who was recently recognized by the College Board's National African American Recognition Program for her outstanding achievement on her PSAT/NMSQT. She is so deserving of this prestigious accomplishment

Congratulations Tierney!

Students in Mrs. Walters' Forensic Science Class fingerprinted their "suspects" this week during class. Members of the RHS staff volunteered in order to help these students learn the correct way to collect fingerprints. Volunteers even got to keep a copy of their own prints!

The United Nations General Assembly designated January 27th, the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, as International Holocaust Remembrance Day. To commemorate this day, students from Ms. Wiater's Power of One: The Holocaust & Beyond class created projects based on memoirs from the Holocaust. They will be on display in the Learning Commons through February 11 and serve as reminders of the personal toll that genocides take on individuals and families. All RHS students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to visit.

Congratulations Salma!

Club Happenings

The French Club held a meeting on January 26th where they made a video presentation about the food they individually eat during lunch. They watched and learned about the different foods that students eat in Ridgewood which was diverse and tasty! Additionally, they watched a video about La Galette des Rois (a king’s cake eaten in France that has its roots all the way back to the Roman Empire). Future club plans include creating videos on club members extracurricular activities. If you would like to get involved, do not hesitate to email Madame Palumbo.

Be sure to check out the January RHS-TV News Show!

Around the Building

The Ridgewood High School faculty came together to provide lunch for our colleagues at George Washington Middle School this week in a show of support and care after the passing of beloved teacher, Mr. Albergate.

On January 26th and 27th, Dr. Michael Fowlin, better known as Mykee, performed his one man presentation "You Don't Know Me Until You Know Me" for RHS staff and students in each grade. Dr. Fowlin has an undergraduate degree in psychology from Evangel University and a doctorate degree in clinical psychology from Rutgers University. His programs combine both his professional acting talents and his psychological training. His mission is to create an atmosphere of worldwide inclusion, not just tolerance, towards all people.

RHS Swim Team Contribution

Recently, RHS Swim Team families generously contributed to the Social Service Association of Ridgewood and Vicinity’s 2021 Holiday Drive. The donation allowed SSA to brighten the holidays for 187 children living in surrounding communities by providing clothing, gifts, and other necessities. SSA greatly appreciated the Swim Team’s commitment to “give where you live,” and recognizes that accomplishing its goal of helping local families in need would be impossible without the ongoing support of organizations like this.   Thank you RHS Swim Team!
