Well done to all the children taking part in the assessments this week. They were all so sensible and conscientious while they worked.
The children who take part in Lets Rock in Years 1 and 2 performed to their parents this week - it all sounded amazing!
Yesterday we all enjoyed watching Year 5 teach us all about the Amazon and the Maya Civilisation. Thank you to all the children and staff who made it such a stimulating assembly for everyone.
The last of the Level 2 Year 6 Cycle Training sessions ended today - watch this space for booking the Level 1 Year 5 course in the Spring.
Just in time for Advent, the school has been transformed, with festive decorations festooned throughout. (....and there might have been a few mince pies nibbled by the staff while they created!)
The Christmas Fair preparations also continue apace, with children enjoying their first Mufti day today.
The panto tickets are currently being sorted, the parent volunteers are already recruited and we are all excited for the panto trip in two weeks' time... oh yes we are!
Next week:
The Nativity Performances are taking place! The children and staff have been working so hard and the dress rehearsals will be in front of the rest of the school early next week, before parents will be coming in to watch on Wednesday and Thursday at their allotted times - see below.
We are excited to be attending the switching on of the Southfields Lights after school on Wednesday, when our Chamber Choir will also be performing. We are all looking forward to seeing the wider community there in force at this popular annual event.
On Thursday morning KS2 will be benefiting from an online Internet Safety workshop which falls in line with our ongoing commitment to safeguarding our children.
Also on Thursday morning Year 2 will be going on a local walk around Southfields.
Finally, see below for a 'Challenging Behaviour Workshop' taking placeat St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, 90 Oakhill Road, SW15 2QD
I wish you all a wonderful start of Advent.
Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel. Isaiah 7:14
Have a lovely weekend

Street Safe: A Reminder:
HELP NEEDED NEXT WEEK PLEASE:
Thank you so much to all those parents (and their children) who have already stepped up and offered their time to this important initiative.
We continue to ask for volunteers, there were two sessions this week where there were no volunteers and the area was unsupervised.
Please add your name to the following google doc spreadsheet; even if you can only offer a very small amount of time to this important cause.
Please note, it is perfectly possible for just one person at a time to man the barriers too. And some children have been kindly assisting their parents too!
Also, please be reminded that even when part of the road is closed it doesn't mean children can run into the road and treat it like a play area.
This is an important opportunity to remind your children of road safety.
Finally, please be considerate when you park elsewhere during this closure because we are still receiving messages from neighbours on Granville Road that their driveways are regularly blocked and the pathways are dangerous.
Thank you.
Our PTA:
Good afternoon,
We hope you had a wonderful week.
It's fir real, it's December and in true St Mike's style the festive season has been kicked off with the first of our three Mufti Days. A huge thank you to those that have contributed so far. There are two more coming up, here is the link for contributions.
Christmas does come with mayhem. Here's a link to the Christmas webpage with (hopefully) all the information you need to keep you afloat. Key points for the week ahead are:
Saturday 2nd December, Christmas tree collection - time tbc that morning - keep your eyes peeled for an email with the collection time. Please bring any toy or book donations for the Christmas fair
Monday 4th December - return raffle stubs, payments via Ticket Tailor. The list of prizes now includes the opportunity to win 2 tickets to The Magic Flute at the London Coliseum and we also have some golf goodies to give away. For a full list of prizes click here.
Friday 8th December, Mufti Day and Christmas fair - donations on the day to be brought to the MUGA at drop off
Finally we are still looking for volunteers for the Christmas Fair. It is an amazing and fun way to see the school in action. If you do have a DBS check and are able to help out, please do sign up. Any time would be appreciated - even if you could give us half an hour after drop off to sort out books and toys and get set up it would be greatly appreciated. Part of the magic of the Christmas fair is the transformation of the hall and outside classroom to a wonderland of Christmas fun and Santa's grotto in approximately an hour!
They were able to tell us all about the Amazon Rainforest, South American artists, and the Maya civilisation!
Our Year 5 superstars wowed everyone with their amazing energy, wonderful singing, and awesome dance moves.
Big thank you to our Year 5 teachers and support staff for helping to put the assembly together.
We were beaming with pride at their expression, innovation and persistence.
Well done Year 5!
ADELE STEWART
Well done to the Chamber Choir for some lovely Christmas Carols at the St Michael's Church Fair this afternoon!
Change to Drop Off Procedures:
Further to parent feedback about connection with the school and opportunities to socalise, you will have received a Parentmail detailing the change of timings for the gates to open in the morning, from January.
This is also to ease congestion on the pavement outside.
Gates to the playgrounds will open at 8:25am but the SOFT START TIMINGS OF THE GATES OPENING WILL REMAIN THE SAME. Children need to arrive by 8:40am or they will be marked as late.
Please be reminded that your child must not play on the equipment nor scooter around the busy playground whilst they wait for the school doors to open.
Many thanks for your support as ever.
Dogs:
Please be mindful that there is a no dog rule in the school playground and any dogs accompanying families to school and waiting outside the perimeter need to be kept on a tight leash so as not to upset other children.

Please be reminded that some of the Haribo style sweets that are sent in for children's birthdays aren't necessarily edible for some families due to the pork gelatin content.
It would be much appreciated if bags with a "H" for halal are purchased where possible so children don't miss out.
