Dear Parents and Carers

It's been a lovely sunny first week back and we have such an exciting half term ahead of us.

The Year 5 children are busy rehearsing for their very special role in the Coronation Celebrations and we are all very excited about the various events planned for that day.

Today Year 2 have enjoyed a Mary Seacole Workshop, learning all about this Crimean nurse as part of their "Battle and Bandages" History Topic.

Next Week:

On Monday afternoon there will be a whole school rehearsal for our Coronation service, which will be taking place on the MUGA and will really get us all in the mood for the celebrations ahead!

The Nursery and Reception children have a visit from the Zoolab Workshop on Wednesday morning and then in the afternoon all year groups will be taking part in a mini marathon on the school field in support of Miss Hotten's run on Sunday! We wish her all the best with her endeavours at the London Marathon in aid of St John Ambulance.

Year 3 are out all day on Thursday at the Natural History Museum to help with their Earthquakes and Volcanoes Geography Topic.

Then finally, on Friday all of KS2 have a Parliament Assembly in the Hall and lucky Year 6 are visiting Fulham Palace until after lunch.

What a busy and fun-filled week we can look forward to!

Attendance:

Our target for the year is: 97%

Our attendance for the year to date is: 96.5%

This week our attendance was: 94.7%

This week there are 22 pupils who have had 10% or more absence in this school year to date, falling under the Government's 94% attendance guidance.

As we near the end of term, please be reminded that taking days off before the Easter break will be unauthorised.

Our PTA:

Well it seems the brief return of summer has now retreated and the wetness has put an end to our uniform sale - never fear very soon you will have the chance to find something at the uniform sale for the (still) upcoming sunny season.

Mark your calendars for the summer fete on Saturday, 24th June - it's going to be a day filled with excitement and fun! We will need lots of help to make it a success, so please save the date and look out for ways to volunteer if you can.

On another note, we are still on the lookout for a chairperson for next year and would happily take a dynamic duo if you wish to do it with a parent friend. If you are interested in taking on this role, please do not hesitate to get in touch. pta@stmichaels.wandsworth.sch.ukYour contribution would be greatly appreciated.

Winston's Wish:

Thanks to the amazing efforts of our St Michael's Community, including the children themselves, we raised an incredible £1742 for this wonderful child bereavement charity.

Well done to all the Courageous Advocates who organised their own individual fundraisers and well done year 6 for raising £420 at the end of last term from their fantastic Cafe.

Message from Wandsworth Food Bank:

"Thank you for your amazing donation to the Wandsworth Food Bank in March! It weighed in at 152.2kg which we estimate proivded 362 meals for our neighbours across the Borough"

Mini Marathon:

This is a reminder that the St Michael's 'Mini Marathon' will take place on the field on Wednesday 26th April in the afternoon in support of Miss Hotten, who will be running the London Marathon on Saturday in aid of St John Ambulance.

All children are to come in to school in PE kit and trainers and remember their water bottles please.

Well done to these sisters who did their own marathon on holiday in Ireland over Easter!

They walked an amazing 40 miles in total!

Year 4 Swimming Lessons:

This is a reminder that for this half term Class 4B will have swimming lessons at the Aspire on Thrusday afternoons.

Please remember to send your 4B child in with a swimming costume, hat, towel and goggles on these days.

Road Safety Alert:

Please be careful when passing the driveways on the way to and from school.

There was a frightening near miss with one of our young pupils this week so please do be vigilant.

Come through the front office and the Oasis room is through to KS1 on the left hand side.

Prayer Box:

We now have a new prayer box at the front desk of the office for any of your prayer requests.

Please feel free to come and post them into the box in advance of the Parent Prayer Group meetings.

Charity Event Led By Ex-Pupil:

Admission is free, donations in aid of the Turkey and Syrian Earthquake Fund

We are so proud that an ex pupil, Charlotte Holmes, is staging a flute recital at St Barnabas Church in aid of the Syrian Earthquake Fund.

Charlotte learned her love for music - and the flute in particular - while she was a pupil here at St Michael's and this has continued throughout her time at Saint Cecilia's. She will be going on to study music at University in the Autumn.

AELTC Coronation Event: Crafts In The Park:

10am - 1pm and 2pm - 4pm

Many parents have asked for our approach to emtional regulation. Please follow the link below to our Zones of Regulation Parent Pack:

Zones of Regulation

As all parents know, they are able to make an appointment with the class teacher and/or SENCO to discuss concerns they have about their child's learning and development.

In addition to this The Inclusion Team would like to offer parents quick, drop-in opportunities where they can ask Mrs Harris (Deputy Headteacher, SENCo and Mental Health Lead) questions they have about their child.

These sessions started on Tuesday 13th September 2022 at 8:30-9am and run each week. If you wish to attend please come to reception after drop off.

At the moment these sessions will be run on a first come first served basis, so there may be a queue.

If necessary we may move to a sign up or booking system but we wanted to see how many parents needed these sessions and how well they are attended.
