We were blessed with the presence of a very special dignitary this week thanks to a kind parent lending us this six foot four cut-out of our future King. It was great to have him overseeing the proceedings and we hope it inspired him for his big day tomorrow!
On Wednesday Year 3 enjoyed an interesting and informative talk about the Wandle River when they learned so much about their local wildlife.
And then we come to today...
We are grateful that Fleur Anderson MP joined us for the planting of our special Jubilee Canopy Project oak sapling. She was accompanied by a representive from the All England Lawn Tennis Club and our Eco Warriors did a great job in hosting them.
This was followed by the amazing whole school celebration service itself, brilliantly led by Year 5. Thank you to all the staff and pupils for working so hard to make this the success it was! I am sure all those who were present will join me in congratulating them on a triumphant ceremony!
After a whole school picnic all classes took part in special Coronation themed activities before a sing along in the playground at the end of the day.
Wishing you a wonderful, celebratory long weekend ahead.

New Facegroup Group for Parents:
This is a closed group for St Michael's parents to share their swaps and buys and sells:
You can put in a request to join the group via this link:
We were delighted that our local MP Fleur Anderson came along to St Michael's this morning to plant an oak sapling specially gifted by the All England Lawn Tennis Club.
This was part of the Queen’s Jubilee Canopy Project and the donated propagated oak sapling was from a veteran oak tree that dates back to Capability Brown’s era.
The tree planting ceremony was also attended by members of the AELTC including Chairman Ian Hewitt and hosted by the school’s ‘Eco Warriors’.
It was great that our esteemed guests then stayed on to watch the wonderful Coronation event before the Heavens opened!
Good Luck Year 6 with your SATS next week!
Stay calm, support each other and do your best is all we ever ask of you.
Coronation Time Capsule:
We are delighted with the various contributions from the children that have been coming in for the Time Capsule...
A beautiful picture of The King!
A photograph of this year 4 pupil's grandfather teaching Prince Charles how to fold a parachute!
A Coronation lapel pin
These Year 4 pupils have created some lovely Madhubani Indian Folk Art, inspired by the book they are studying: 'How The Stars Came To Be', written and illustrated by Poonam Mistry.
River Wandle Workshop:
The Year 3s had a workshop before their trip to the River Wandle in King George's Park.
They learnt about the journey of the river and where the source was.
They used the key vocabulary to describe the features of the river.
The children learnt about what wildlife they could spot on their river walk and the role of the river in the water cycle.
Message from The Office
Please be reminded to copy in both your child's teacher and the school office for all attendance correspondence.
Thank you.
Summer Clubs
Some clubs still have spaces which can be booked and paid for via Parentmail, as follows:
As all parents know, they are able to make an appointment with the class teacher and/or SENCO to discuss concerns they have about their child's learning and development.
In addition to this The Inclusion Team would like to offer parents quick, drop-in opportunities where they can ask Mrs Harris (Deputy Headteacher, SENCo and Mental Health Lead) questions they have about their child.
At the moment these sessions will be run on a first come first served basis, so there may be a queue. Please come and wait in the School Office.
Kind regards
The Inclusion Team
Reflection and Prayer:
Next week's Gospel Value is:
Justice:
Prayer for Justice:
Grant us, Lord God, a vision of your world as your love would have it:
a world where the weak are protected, and none go hungry or poor;
a world where the riches of creation are shared, and everyone can enjoy them;
a world where different races and cultures live in harmony and mutual respect;
a world where peace is built with justice, and justice is guided by love.
Give us the inspiration and courage to build it, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
For Courage to Do Justice:
O Lord, open my eyes that I may see the needs of others
Open my ears that I may hear their cries;
Open my heart so that they need not be without succor;
Let me not be afraid to defend the weak because of the anger of the strong,
Nor afraid to defend the poor because of the anger of the rich.
Show me where love and hope and faith are needed,
And use me to bring them to those places.
And so open my eyes and my ears.
That I may this coming day be able to do some work of peace for thee.
- Alan Paton
