Despite the mixed weather for most of the week we've still had a great few days of Summer Term fun..
..including lots of time to relax, as you can see from these pictures!
Firstly congratulations to Year 6 for their outstanding Production performances this week! And a huge thank you and well done to the Chamber Choir and all the staff involved too. What a lot of talent is heading to the various secondary schools in September!
Other end of term performances this week included Let's Rock concerts and the showcasing to parents of The Jam, Cheerleading and Street Dance after school clubs.
We were delighted to see so many parents come through the doors on Wednesday evening to enjoy and celebrate their children's work from this term. And families have also now all been advised of which class their child will be in next academic year.
This morning we welcomed seven of the ten new in-year pupils who will be joining us in September as well as 60 Reception pupils for their 'Stay and Play'.
We also welcomed two new teachers, Mr Efford and Miss Ball, to our Move Up morning when all pupils had a chance to experience their new classes for the coming academic year.
In our move up assembly this morning I spoke to the children about our gospel value 'Hope' and we shared our experiences of trepidation and excitement for the new year ahead. I reminded them that 'hope is believing that good things will happen'.
'Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Saviour, and my hope is in you all day long', Psalm 25:5.
While this was happening the Year 6 pupils enjoyed a trip to Southwark Cathedral for the annual Diocese Leavers Service. A really lovely tradition that gives the children a real chance to focus on the next phase of their school career.
Finally, our Key Stage 2 SATS results were brilliant and we will publish all our results in the new year once we have local and national statistics for comparison. We are so proud of all our children who have completed both statutory and non-statutory assessments over this term.
Next Week...
... is the last week of the school year! How has that happened?
The rescheduled Reception Sports Day is on Monday (weather permitting), and we have our end of term service at the church at 9:30am on Tuesday - our whole school community are all welcome at this service.
On Wednesday morning we will host the annual Teddy Bears picnic for Nursery children and in the evening we will bid a formal farewell to our Year 6 cohort at their Leavers Service.
Thursday is of course the last day of term and please be reminded that the day ends at 2pm.
Have a lovely weekend.

Our PTA:
You will all now have received the PTA End of Year newsletter via Parentmail.
Miss Hotten and I are really proud of the Year 6’s pulling together a truly wonderful performance, of the comedy, Porridge.
Papa Bear and his family, own a Porridge Pot Diner, and have bigger plans to take over the porridge industry…but through dodgy deals and at the detriment to the other folk of the town, Happy Valley.
Watch on as Tom Tom, Peter Piper, Goldilocks, and the useless Inspector Drain and his police force, fail to stop Papa Bear’s plan!
With its all singing, dancing and quick slapstick
humour, the show promises laughs all round. Y6 have done an amazing job to learn their roles and deliver with confidence. They have simply shone.
A big thank you to Miss Guinness for her artistic design of the set; Miss Barter for helping back stage with scene changes & Mrs Lee and Mrs Banner for their make up skills.
Thank you to everyone who helped pull this together and special thanks to our Mrs Bhattacharya and Miss Yung for their patience and support during rehearsals.
The Y6 team are really grateful.
Lastly, well done to Mrs Minster and the chamber choir for supporting the music so brilliantly. We couldn’t have done it without you.
A great team effort!

Year 3 Egyptian Day:
Thursday was time travel day in Year 3 as we transformed into Ancient Egyptians as a finale to our exciting History topic for this half term.
Throughout the day, we became artisans, creating canopic jars, and scribes, learning to use hieroglyphics to spell out our key historical vocabulary.
In addition, we echoed our recent Maths learning about 3D shapes by finding out about the ancient pyramids at Giza and creating a mini pyramid of our own using a net. Several children came dressed up as pharaohs and mummies; their wonderful costumes really helped to enhance the theme and celebrate the learning.

The circle of control is a very helpful concept to understand for children. This poster is designed to show that mistakes happen, but they can learn to manage their reactions and grow from each experience. Share it with your children to focus on what they can control!

Help me to be a light in the darkness and a source of hope and encouragement to those who need it most.
Thank you, God, for the opportunity to serve others.
May my words and actions reflect your love and grace, and may I always seek to bring glory to your name.
In Jesus' name, Amen
.. and finally.... we are so proud of this Year 4 girl who had 30 cm cut from her hair to send to the Little Princess Trust. How wonderful - and doesn't she look fabulous!
